While in the middle of Covid outbreak as I was stranded in Cracow and unable to come back to Israel, a position opened at the university of Groningen, in the Netherlands. I was still in my third year at Buber, but the position was for Hinduism in the Sanskrit tradition. A very tempting one for me. So, I applied. I officially did it as a single person but in truth it was a Buber team effort. Some buberians helped me with the mock talk, others with the motivation letter. Others yet with all the rest!
By now 3 years have passed and I met many great colleagues here in Groningen. I was able to continue the research I started in Buber which will come out as monograph, a social history of ritual and space in pre-modern Kerala. I am still in contact with some of the martin of buberians .. they remain a great point of reference for me and among my best friends.
