In late February, the program held a study visit to the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, offering fellows an opportunity for direct engagement with contemporary art and curatorial practices. As part of the visit, fellows toured the exhibition The Day Is Gone: 100 Years of the New Objectivity, guided by the exhibition’s curator, Dr. Noam Gal (The Hebrew University of Jerusalem). The tour provided an in-depth introduction to the New Objectivity movement and its historical and cultural contexts, alongside a discussion of key issues in curation, collections, and the role of the museum as a knowledge-mediating institution.
The visit continued with Beyond Small / Miniature Worlds in Contemporary Art, which explored contemporary approaches to scale and miniaturization, highlighting both conceptual and experiential aspects of current artistic practices. The day concluded with a shared meal in the museum courtyard, allowing for informal conversation and reflection.
Overall, the visit created space for interdisciplinary learning and offered a meaningful way to connect academic research with the world of art and culture.
