Exploring the Divergent Cultures of Education for Sustainable Development
This project investigates the divergent cultures of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in teacher and business education across Germany and Israel. Drawing on historical and ethnographic methods, it explores how distinct disciplinary, institutional, and national contexts have produced contrasting didactic frameworks and epistemic logics. The research aims to uncover how these frameworks shape educational practices and examines the potential for cross-cultural dialogue and mutual learning in ESD implementation. By situating science education and didactics as culturally embedded practices, the project contributes to rethinking sustainability education in higher education from a transnational and interdisciplinary perspective.
