This week, we went on the traditional autumn trip of the Buber Fellows Program. The autumn weather turned into rainy conditions as we traveled south to the Negev, but even the rain didn’t deter us from visiting several fascinating archaeological sites: the Rimon ruins near the Lahav Forest, the rock paintings at Har Mihya, and the ancient Nabatean city of Avdat. We thank our fellow Moshe Yagur, who guided us at these sites.
Together with Prof. Nir Avieli from Ben-Gurion University and Mr. Khalil Khan Al-Sira, we visited the Bedouin village of Nahal Hava. We got to hear about various aspects of life in the Bedouin communities and unrecognized villages of the Negev.
In the evening, we sang at the youth hostel in Sde Boker to the sounds of the guitar trio of our fellows Ori Eran, Nir Feinberg, and Yoav Hamdani, who played wonderfully and took requests for songs.
Once again, we were reminded of how much the experience of going out into nature and open spaces contributes to the good spirits and friendships within our group.
