On November 26th 2015 a special event of the MBSF, within the frame of marking 50 years relations between Germany and Israel, took place in Berlin, in cooperation with the Freie Universitaet Berlin and the Humboldt Universitaet zu Berlin. A group of the Buber Fellows, together with young researchers from the Zukunftskolleg Konstanz and from various institutions in Berlin, discussed issues concerning the future of young academics in both countries, and the prospect and promise of International Programs in the Humanities and Social Sciences. State Secretary Georg Schuette and the Presidents of the three Universities opened the discussions. Also took active part among others, Giovanni Galizia, the Director of the Zukunftskolleg, Margret Wintermantel the President of the DAAD, Susanne Burger DDG "Europe" , the Federal Ministry for Education and Research and Prof. Dan Diner, member of the Kuratorium of the BMBF, and Yofi Tirosh form Tel Aviv University. We emerged with a greater appreciation of the importance of competitive post-doctoral programs within the academic landscape and at the same time of their challenges in both countries vis-à-vis their respective Higher Education's structure and goals.
