Excursion to the Negev

Excursion to the Negev
Activity Date:
Sunday, Nov 8, 2015 to Monday, Nov 9, 2015

On November 8-9, the Martin Buber Society of Fellows had a learning excursion in the Negev desert in the south of Israel. We left Jerusalem at the crack of dawn and reached the Ramon crater. After a jeep trip, a hike, and lunch in the crater, we spent the evening in the small town of Mitzpeh Ramon. The next morning, we toured several Beduin communities, beginning with the unrecognized village of Ariha, and then Segev Shalom and Rahat. In each place, we met local inhabitants, who told of their challenges and their successes.
